In Star Wars The Force Awakens the Yoda replacement is Maz Katana (Lupita Nyong'o). I really liked this character in the movie and there was going to be some more scenes to explain her origin but like a lot of other scenes they were cut out due to time or just because some people would think it wouldn't make a lot of since. We first see Maz when Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his crew needs to land to get fuel to get to the resistance base when Han and his crew lands they go to Maz's castel to ask for fuel which is a lot the cantia on mos eisley in EP. 4 A New Hope. Then we learn the Maz and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) have a relationship which is kind of weird if you ask me. Then Maz is actually the first character in the movie to suspect something is not right with Finn (John Boyega) and after that Rey goes to the lower levels of the castel finds the lightsaber and has her force vision and after the vision Maz is behind Rey and she's like you have a power that's not very common now (the force) and also saying how the lightsaber was calling to her and she needs to carry on the path of the Jedi. Then later when the First Order comes and attacks her castel she gives the lightsaber to Finn and tells him to use it and that's all we see of her in the movie. Now the scene that was cut out from the movie, secretly Maz Kanta is a Jedi maybe not a legit Jedi but she had the force because when a squad of First Order Stormtroopers are about to attack she picks up a pile of fallen rocks with the force and crushes the Stormtroopers. Honestly I think they should've left that in the movie because that would've added that the First Order would've found out and then they would've been after her too but it would've been one of those scenes that people would've dogged on so I can understand why they cut it out and in the movie she does say she's no Jedi but it still would've been cool. So two thumbs up to Maz.
